The current 2013 Hadeep expedition is being led by Dr Alan Jamieson, a senior research fellow from Aberdeen University’s Oceanlab. He has been involved for many years in designing landers and equipment that will function in the deepest parts of the sea, and in using these to investigate the animals that live there.
Thomas Linley is a PhD student also based at Oceanlab. His work investigates the interconnectivity of abyssal and hadal fish around the Pacific Rim.
Heather Ritchie is a PhD student at Aberdeen University. She is working on population genetic structures of hadal creatures.
Ryan Eustace is a fourth-year undergraduate at Aberdeen who is completing his honours year.
We’ll be posting some interviews with the Hadeep team as the cruise progresses – check out Meet the Team for more!
